FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is coaching the same as therapy?

No, coaching is NOT the same as therapy.

Therapy is a healing profession that typically focuses on the past. It’s about processing your emotional history or diagnosing and treating mental health issues and the therapist uses their expertise to help you work through unhealed emotional traumas – “why” things happened.

Coaching is about the present and the future. It shifts the emphasis from "why" to "how to," keeping focus on the current situation and actively developing plans for the future.

Are conversations confidential?

Coaching is completely private, safe and confidential. Cheryl follows the ethical guidelines and professional standards set forth by the International Coach Federation (ICF).

How are sessions conducted?

Private, on-on-one coaching sessions are conducted via phone or video conferencing (Zoom.)

Are any topics off limits and/or inappropriate for coaching?

The purpose of this coaching session is to provide support and education to help individuals understand the financial and emotional considerations involved in marriage breakdown that can lead to divorce.

It is not intended as a substitute for legal advice nor to discuss matters directly related to an ongoing divorce case - those topics are inappropriate for coaching and therefore, off limits.

How do I schedule a coaching session?

To schedule a coaching session, simply complete the form on this page. After you've paid for your session, you will see a link to Cheryl's calendar where you can choose a date/time that works well for you.

Can I schedule more than one session?

If at the end of your session, you and Cheryl both agree another session is warranted, then yes, you can purchase another session at that time.

Can I schedule a coaching session even if I don't live in a state where Equitable Mediation practices mediation?

Yes! Coaching is available to individuals who reside in any of the United States.

I am secretly planning for divorce and don’t want my spouse to know I bought a coaching session. How will it show on my credit card?

On your credit card, your purchase will show as "Equitable Mediation"

In addition, you will receive an email receipt after you purchase the session, and Equitable Mediation Services will be listed on that receipt.

Keep these things in mind when choosing the email address and the credit card you will use to make the purchase.

When are appointments available?

Sessions are available weekdays during traditional business hours. Evening sessions are also available if you live on the east coast or in the mid-west.

Coaching sessions are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and will only be confirmed once payment is received.

You can often schedule a session same week or within a week's notice.
